Deacon Allen Martinette Byers 64, of Charlotte, NC passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Novant Health Main. Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church 2020 Sugar Creek Rd. West. Charlotte, NC 28262. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and the Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Military Rites and Interment will take place Monday, July 13, 2026 at Crown Memorial Park Cemetery 9620 Rodney St. Pineville, NC 28135 at 10:00 AM.
Allen Martinette Byers Sr. Was born on June 20th, 1962, to Raeford A. Byers and Nannie A. Alexander. He was called to his eternal rest on July 4th, 2026, in the presence of his loved ones.
Allen grew up in Mooresville in a loving home with his parents and three sisters, Raefette, Minuette, and Suzette. During his formative years, he attended Parkview Elementary School, Woods Elementary, Mooresville Junior High, and Mooresville High School. At the age of 18, Allen joined the United States Armed Forces. He continued in the armed forces until 1988.
Allen met the love of his life, Debra R. Byers, on January 1st, 1987, and they were wed on October 15th, 1989. Through their union, they created a family of four with their two children, Allen Jr. and Tia.
Allen was an avid servant of his community as he belonged to several community organizations and groups. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local #71, Prince Hall Silverset Lodge #327, Rameses Temple #51, American Legion Post #262, the Ebenezer Transportation Ministry, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church (EBC) Deacon Ministry. During his time at Teamsters #71, he served as a trustee. As part of EBC’s deacon ministry, he served on the deacon board as vice chairman.
Allen was a pillar in the community not just for his involvement but for his service. He was known for his famous barbecue and catered many community events throughout his lifetime.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Raeford and Nannie Byers, his mother-in-law Marion Ross, and sisters in law, Andrea Ross and Carolyn Ross.
Allen is survived by his wife Debra, daughter: Tia Byers of Durham, NC, son: Allen (Jessica) R. Byers, Jr of Charlotte, NC. granddaughter: Alaina P. Byers of Charlotte, NC., sisters: Raefette (Audwin) Helton of Louisville, KY, Minuette (Reggie) Floyd of Columbia, SC, and Suzette Byers of Statesville, NC., Father in Law: Jerry Ross Jr. of Iron Station, NC., Brothers in Law: Rickie Ross of Charlotte, NC, Randy (Tyra) Ross of Iron Station, NC., Jerry Levern (Vickie) Ross of Iron Station, NC, Mark Ross of Charlotte, NC, Ronnie Ross of Iron Station, NC and a host of uncles, aunts, and nieces and nephews.
Allen was large in both stature and personality. He never met a stranger and treated each new person in his life as a dear friend. Most people that knew him knew of his love for his family, friends, and the Washington Redskins (Commanders). A true servant of God, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, church, and community. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and his presence and impact will reverberate across many generations.
