Bernice Brummitt Brown

Ms Bernice  Brummitt Brown, 84 of Charlotte passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Atrium Health Main Charlotte. Public viewing will be held Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Long & Son Chapel from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later  date.

Bernice Brummitt Brown, 84 of Charlotte NC, passed away on April 18, 2020. Bernice was born in Camp Hill, Alabama on April 15,1936 to Willie and Fred Brummitt, she was the youngest of 16 children.

Bernice moved to Charlotte in 1958 where she worked as a domestic worker until 1969 when she became a factory worker for Owen Illinois Plastic until her retirement in 1999. Afterwards she was a nanney until 2015. Bernice was a faithful member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church for 52 years. Doing this time she was a member of Missionary Group 3 and a member of her beloved hymn choir. Bernice was a member of several social clubs, Eight Dynamite and a current member of the Friendly Fourteen Savings Club. She was once an active member of the Eastern Star, St Michael Lodge 478. Her favorite pass time was traveling the U.S. and singing.

She is survived by her daughter Delores Adams and son Terry Brown (Janice), her 3 grandsons Terrence Kelly, Rashad Brown and Preston Adams, 2 great granddaughters all of Charlotte.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Brown and daughter Diana Brummitt. She leaves to mourn some very special nieces and nephews.
