John Thomas Williams, Sr. 82, of Charlotte,NC passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at Novant Health Main Charlotte. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church 1401 N. Allen Street Charlotte, NC 28205. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Military rites and interment will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery 1601 Oaklawn Ave. Charlotte, NC 28216.
Mr. John Thomas Williams Sr., passed away at Novant Health
Presbyterian Medical Center on Monday, August 5, 2019. He was
born on December 10, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina to Percy
and Janie Williams. Mr. Williams attended public schools in
Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from Carver College.
He was employed as a linesman by Southern Bell (BellSouth) for
over 30 years until his retirement.
John joined the United States Navy and served until 1963. He
married Bessie Feely and from this union, they were blessed
with three children.
Brother John Williams was a faithful member of St. Paul
Missionary Baptist Church and had a zeal for teaching Sunday
School and also served on other auxiliaries. He was a Prince Hall
Mason for over 40 years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, jogging, and playing basketball. He
was an avid reader of science fiction and was well-informed on
current events.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Bessie
Williams, his sister, Marie Law and his brother, Theodore Ellis.
His loving memories will be cherished by his sister, Mary
Williams, his children, Lorraine Queen, Debra Hood and John T.
Williams Jr., his grandchildren Kenya Williams, Shannon
Williams-Streater, Cierra Williams, Navondra Cooper, Jeremy
Williams, John Williams III, Lauren Cooper, and Destiny
Williams, 17 great-grandchildren, a special sister-in-law, Claretta
Adams, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, masonic brothers,
friends and his companion Kartrina Lindsay and her son,
Thomas Lindsay.
