Charlotte, NC 28269. Freddie Augustus Allen was born on July 26, 1940 to the late James W. Allen Sr. and the late Annie B. (Brown) Allen in Henderson, NC. He was the third of six children and was affectionately called “Frog” by his father. He was predeceased by three of his siblings: Delores Harris, Coliah Ann Pinkney and James W. Allen Jr. Freddie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Brookston Baptist Church in Henderson Church. He was educated in the Vance County school system and upon leaving school he relocated to Richmond, VA where he sought employment, got married and began his family. Out of that union came two children, Fred Allen Jr. and Cassandra Tillman. Freddie and his family relocated to the Bronx, NY. He began working as a taxi driver and later became a driver for Flying Mailman. He united himself with Greater Zion Baptist Church and served on the church choir. As he endeavored to give his family a better life, he once again relocated to Queens, NY and found employment at Airborne Express where he worked until he retired. He joined the Amity Baptist Church and served as an usher and a member of the Men’s Choir. One of his favorite pass times was bowling, so he joined the church bowling league along with another outside league. As years passed, Freddie met and married Lessie Renee Lee along with her twins Rezetta and Harry in 1993. One thing anyone can say, Freddie loved himself some Renee. He would always say “We Is One!!!” Rezetta and Harry loved “Father” as he did them. He would do anything for them and was always an encouraging force to them. Freddie retired years of employment with Airborne express and soon after he and Renee became entrepreneurs of a few businesses; Bazi and Prepaid Legal. When Renee retired their next step was to relocate to Charlotte, NC. In their search for a new church home, they fell in love with Ebenezer Baptist Church and became members. They attended service regularly. Freddie served on the Hymn Choir, attended Bible Study on Thursday and Sunday School as often as he could until sickness prevented him. Freddie loved the Lord and exhibited God’s love in all he did. He had such an intoxicating personality that drew others to him. He had a love for people and extended himself in any way he could to help them. He had a gift for fixing anything you put before him. He loved to say “watch and learn” and was an outstanding mechanic. He loved to travel and have a good time. He was an impeccable dresser to the point that his job gave him a certificate and recognized him for always having his work shoes clean and shined. He also received recognition for being a safe driver; a record of no accidents during his career with Airborne Express. Lastly, family was always at the forefront for him and because he loved family, he gave of himself continuously.
