Mr. Coleman Crowder 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Monday, February 12, 2019 at Novant Health Main Charlotte, NC. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at The Park Church 6029 Beatties Ford Rd. Charlotte, NC 28216. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be in York Memorial Park 5150 S. Tryon Street Charlotte, NC 28217. 1 John 4:20: If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Coleman Crowder was born in Anson County, NC on June 26, 1936. He was the oldest son of the late Jodie Crowder and Mattie Ruth Butler Crowder. He was the second oldest of 11 siblings. Coleman, also known as C.C., attended public schools in Anson (Red Hill) and Union Counties (Gulledge Elementary and East Union High). After his school days, he enlisted with the US Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge. Post military life took him to a long journey in the work force, starting with Douglas Airport, Fredrickson Motor Express Corporation, Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.) and later retiring from Yellow Freight Company. Coleman was baptized at an early age into membership of Meltonville Baptist Church (now the New Meltonville Missionary Baptist Church, Peachland, NC.) He continued his Christian journey as a faithful member at University Park Baptist Church (The Park Ministries) in Charlotte, NC. Coleman touched the lives of many with his jovial spirit and contagious laughter. He had a love for football and took pride in transforming undernourished yards of family, friends and neighbors into healthy and beautiful landscapes. After a courageous battle with health issues, he departed this life at Novant Health on February 12, 2019. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Ola Mae Davis, Martha Jane Crowder and Barbara Jean Watson; three brothers; Jodie Junior, Joe Louis, and Roy Paul. He leaves to cherish precious memories of his life: wife, Hattie Guinyard Crowder; three sons, Coleman Bernard (Rosa) Crowder, Charlotte, NC, Vincent Greene, Herrieden, Germany; Sherman Fitzgerald Crowder, Gaston County-Crowders Mountain; two daughters: Debra Renee (Larry) Montgomery, Mooresville, NC; Antingo Yvette Crowder, Charlotte, NC; five sisters: Louise Robinson of Glen Burnie, MD, Georgia Johnson of Baltimore, MD; Mattie (Willie) Rivers; Joyce (Bill) Brown; Virginia (Dr. Huey) Rowe-Anderson, all of Charlotte, NC; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great- great grand child, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
