Ms Jessie Mae Sanders 92, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday November 11, 2018 at her residence. Funeral service will held Saturday November 17,2018 at First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 209 W.28th Street Charlotte, NC 28206. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and the service will follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in York Memorial Park 5150 S.Tryon St. Charlotte,NC 28217. MRS. JESSIE MAE BRYANT SANDERS, was born November 5, 1926 in Winston-Salem, NC. She entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at her residence. She celebrated her 92nd birthday on Monday, November 5, 2018. Mrs. Jessie was raised in Chester, SC by her grandparents, the late Dan and Bessie Wilks, with her biological brother, Otis; and cousins, Rosa Bell and Mary Ellen as sisters. She was educated in Chester County Schools. Mrs. Jessie accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey holding memberships in the following households of faith: Gethsemane Baptist Church, Chester, SC, Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC and First Mount Calvary Baptist Church, NC. Mrs. Jessie became a widow at the age of 25 upon the untimely death of her late husband, Adam “Shag” Bryant. In 1990, at the age of 72, she was joined in holy matrimony to her first love, the late Lonnie V. Sanders. At his demise February 3, 2014 they had celebrated 24 years of marriage. Mrs. Jessie moved to New Jersey in 1961 and began a career in human services. She retired from the State of New Jersey in 1987 and relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1988. Mrs. Jessie’s hobbies were many which included traveling to her home state of South Carolina. She was gifted with her hands and enjoyed sewing, making crafts and knitting. She loved nature and had a special connection with birds. Mrs. Jessie was an independent, proud and private person who had a selected circle of friends and relatives. She was not a biological mother but a mother to many. She had two favorite dolls, “Bo Bo” and “Lil Jessie Mae” that she called her children. The love of her life was her dogs, “Bessie” and “Millie”. Mrs. Jessie was blessed with Nieces and Nephews who loved and provided assistance in her golden age. Nieces: Penny Alexander, Mildred Audrey, Patricia Wilks and Dianne Wilks. Nephews: Carlton Blount, Willie Wilks, Ricky Wilks, Danny Wilks and Jimmy Audrey. In the Twilight years of life she was under the care of Mary “Mookie” Wilmore where she lived the life of a “Queen” until her demise. Mrs. Jessie leaves to cherish the memory of her life: her loving sister, Rosa Bell Wilks of Charlotte, NC; Godsons, Demetrice Moore of Newark, NJ and Sam Watte of Greenville, SC; special friend Juanita “Nita” Sermons” of Newark, NJ; a host Nephews, Nieces and other relatives and friends. |
