On November 11, 1947 she married W.J. (Godfather) Robinson. To this union of nearly 70 years, five children were born; Jacquline (death in infancy), Walter (Marsha), Jerry (Valerie), Shirley and Geraline, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Robinson and her family joined Mowing Glad A.M.E. Zion Church over 50 years ago. Two of the positions she held were Stewardess and Deaconess. One of her favorite pass times was challenging her brain with word searches and cross word puzzles and looking at her favorite TV program “Family Feud”. She retired from Charlotte Memorial Hospital as a surgical technician, an Eastern Star and member of the J.H. Gunn Community Organization. Mrs. Robinson was a loving and supportive wife, sacrificing and proud mother and a doting grandmother. In her quiet way she lead her family from her bed and was called “Queen Bee”. During the last hour of her life she was engaging with her granddaughters singing and laughing. One of the last songs she sung was “Down through the years” the song she loved hearing her husband sing, then she closed her eyes and began her journey to see loved ones long gone and her home in Glory. As much as she loved her family, Edith’s task her was done, she was about to get her wings. |
