Andrew Ben Pugh

Mr. Andrew Ben Pugh 65, of Charlotte, NC. passed away Saturday, September 1,2018 at his resident . Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 8,2018 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Service begin at 1:00 pm.

Andrew Ben Pugh was born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 21, 1953 to Gloria Vivian Simon Drayton and Ben Pugh.

He grew up in Charleston and was nurtured and loved by his mother Gloria Pugh and cousin Bessie Smith. Graduated from CA Brown High School in 1971 and attended Shaw University in Raleigh; later transferred to Saint Augustine’s College; graduating with a degree in History/Government and Business.

He moved to Charlotte in 1979, where he spent over 30 years working in the insurance industry with Prudential, Aetna, TIAA-CREF and as an independent contractor selling insurance.

Andrew spent time involved with various collegiate and community organizations.  He also enjoyed traveling and participating in various walks that supported a number of causes including March of Dimes and American Heart Association.

He grew up and attended Greater Trinity AME Church in Charleston, SC. Former member of Greater Bethel AME Church and Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC

He leaves to cherish his loving memories:  Shannon Whiteside-Pugh (wife); two sons – Andrew B. Pugh, Jr and Allan B. Pugh; two step-children Shannon Whiteside-Mims (daughter) and Danny Whiteside-Mims (son); two sisters Linda Smalls and Sarah Kelly; two grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
