Theodora Pendergrass Jackson, lovingly known as “Thee”, was born on January 24th, 1938 in Sharon , S.C. to the late Estelle and Mattie Sanders Pendergrass. God through His divine wisdom, saw fit to call her home on Wednesday morning February 14th, 2018 after a very brief illness. She attended York County Schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School, Clover SC in 1957. She was united in marriage for 52 years to the Reverend John Isaac Jackson until his death in 2012. She worked for Sears & Roebuck Distribution Center for many years and retired in 2003 from Carolinas Medical Center as a receptionist on the fifth floor for 14 years. She began her Christian walk at a very early age at Union Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC and after moving to Charlotte, later joined East Stonewall AME Zion Church with her husband where she was a very faithful member for many years. She later transferred her membership to Moore’s Sanctuary AME Zion Church after Reverend Jackson was appointed as pastor in 1984. There she served tirelessly as first lady for 27 years and remained active on many boards and clubs after Reverend Jackson’s death. She was former president of the Stewardess and Deaconess Boards, Vice President, Seniors Ministry, and served as the Women’s Home & Overseas Missionary Society Life Members chairperson. She was an active member of The Ministers Spouses & Widows Organization. In addition she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Despite all of these accomplishments , what was most important to her was knowing she was a member in the army of the Lord . “Ms. Thee” touched so many with her meek and humble spirit. She loved fishing in the local ponds and lakes with friends and gardening , especially planting flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband The Reverend John Isaac Jackson, 4 brothers Willie , Leroy, Fletcher, and Robert, 3 sisters: Mary Benonia, Ammie, Rosa , and a very special great niece, Keisha Meeks. Those left to cherish her memories are her 3 sons Larry, Darryl (Cordelia ), Gregory ( Cassandra ); one daughter, Sonya; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one aunt, Mardine Pendergrass; several extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, as well as many friends. She also leaves behind one special pet, her dog “Rocky “ . A Quote From Theodora Jackson in 2015 “As I look back over my life, I think of the many blessings that he has bestowed upon my life, and I am proud of all that I have accomplished through God’s grace”
