Mrs. Peggy Ann Thomas McKnight peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
Sunday, October 1, 2017.
Peggy was passionate about her relationship with God and loved to motivate and encourage others in
their faith walk. Peggy was a longtime member of Steele Creek A.M.E. Zion Church where she was a
Class Leader and served on the Outreach Ministry as director of the food pantry.
Peggy retired from AXA Financial as an Underwriter Assistant. She was gifted at many things and was an
accomplished hair dresser for over 20 years. Peggy enjoyed gardening, decorating, thrift store and flea
market shopping and helping others get organized. Peggy’s greatest attribute however, was her love for
her family. She was always there to support, inspire, and cultivate the lives of her adult children,
grandchildren, great grands, extended family, friends and even strangers. She exemplified all the
characteristics of the Fruit of the Spirit and was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.
After graduating from South Mecklenburg High School, Peggy married her childhood sweetheart Andrew
Marion McKnight, Jr. They were married for 28 years before he preceded her in death. Out of the
marriage union they have 3 loving children, Andrea La Shawn McKnight, Andrew Marion McKnight III
(special friend Jeren Terry), and Aaron Christian McKnight.
Peggy’s mother, Etta Mae Kelly and father, Charlie Kelly preceded her in death. She leaves a host of
family members who loved her dearly. 1 uncle Roosevelt Graham from Maryland and 2 aunts Doris
Lewis from Richburg, SC and Julia Ann Teamer of Charlotte, NC. Her brother, James Robert Graham and
wife Brenda, her sister Dorothy Miller and husband Clarence, 4 grandchildren (Shaquita McKnight,
Courtney Jones, Deontray McKnight, and Michael Andrew McKnight), 4 great grandchildren, 4 brother in
laws, 4 sister in laws and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and lots of special friends.
Peggy will be greatly missed by many and her loving and kind spirit will forever be cherished.
