Mr. Ronald Brown Jr., was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his home. He was born on June 22, 1958 in Chicago, IL to the late Ronald Brown Sr. and Geraldine Bowie. Throughout the years he had many nicknames, such as “Video” and “Champ,” but was currently known to many as “Smoov.” Ronald accepted Christ at an early age. He regularly attended Sunday School and sang in the Voice of Haven Youth Choir. He was a devoted member Kingdom Covenant Church in Greensboro, NC. He was a graduate of Byrne Mawr and South Shore High Schools. He also attended Northern Illinois University.
Ronald loved spending time with his wife, Pearl, the love of his life. A job opportunity caused him to move to Charlotte, NC, were they met. Everyone who was a part of his life knew how much he “truly loved and adored” being married to Pearl. His father’s love of music was passed on to him. He purchased his first guitar at the beginning of high school and continued to excel in the music field starting his first of many successful bands and playing in talent shows in high school. He had his own studio in Chicago and helped up and coming musicians get started. Ronald was a serious handyman, good auto mechanic and excellent grill man. After completing several computer courses, he got the “bug” and it never ended.
Ron spent numerous hours teaching future musicians. He was also known as ” little Jimmy Hendrix and although he was right handed he played his guitar with his left hand. If there was an opportunity to entertain and play his guitar “Smoov” would jet to that event! He also loved traveling, cooking, handing out “advice” and completing various “DIY” projects. He was loved by many and would keep you laughing with his charisma. He was the doctor, lawyer, and teacher….a jack of all trades. He believed inmaking a change in the lives of anyone he could touch with his booming personality, voice and kind spirited soul. He brought a smile to anyone that crossed his path.
