Mr. Lee Roy Smith, Jr. 49 of Richmond , VA. passed away February 11, 2017 at Johnson Willis Hospital Richmond, VA. Funeral service will be held Saturday February 18, 2017 at Greater Providence Baptist Church 2000 Milton Rd. Charlotte, NC 28215. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm interment will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.Lee Roy Smith Junior was born on August 8, 1967; a precious gift from God to Leroy & Hilda Smith. His formative years were all in Charlotte N.C. where he enjoyed a happy childhood. His life was further blessed with two younger siblings: brother Melvin Alexander and sister Devon Shavon. Their blossoming years as brothers and sister were spent fighting with and for each other. Junior was baptized in 1978 and first found Christ at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Waxhaw, N.C.. Formal education took place within the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System where he graduated Garinger High School Class of 1985. He later enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Central Piedmont Community College to pursue a career as a chef and worked in some of Charlottes’ most notable restaurants. His desire to see the country then led him to obtain a Commercial Drivers License and to become a long distance truck driver. In August 2012, he relocated to Richmond VA where he was presently employed by Amazon at a Fulfillment Center and also performed snow removal & asphalt services for the City of Richmond. He joined the New Life Christian Outreach Ministry Church where he was a current member. On February 11, 2017, God whispered to Junior that his journey was complete and he departed earth. | |
