Sallie Gill Calhoun

Mrs. Sallie Gill Calhoun 96, of Huntersville, NC passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at her residence. Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at First Baptist Church West 1801 Oaklawn Ave. Charlotte, NC 28216. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am. Memorial service begin at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church West Scholarship Fund.

Sallie Gill Calhoun was born in High Rock, North Carolina on December 24, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Persy and Sally Gill. She was united in marriage to her life long love, Judge Calhoun. Sallie lived a long and blessed life until her passing on Monday, December 9, 2024. She would have been 97 if she had lived to her birthday.

Sallie was a graduate of West Charlotte, High School. She worked in the medical field as a surgical tech in Labor and Delivery at Charlotte Memorial Hospital (now Atrium) until she retired per request of her husband.

She was a long time member of First Baptist Church-West.

Her hobbies consist of crocheting, baking, she was known for her Christmas fruitcake and cookies, playing cards with her YMCA ladies group and traveling with her daughters.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sallie was preceded in death by her son Michael Calhoun.

Sallie is survived by her daughter Denise Calhoun and Judgette Calhoun, both of Charlotte, NC, three grand daughters Tiara Parker of Charlotte, NC, Shannel of Germany and Michelle of Berlin, three grandsons, Michael Jr., Alexander and Jackie of Macedonia, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
