Mrs. Freeman of Charlotte passed away on September 7, 2022. She was born in Rutherford, N.C., the daughter of Robert Miller and Emma Miller White. She was a graduate of West Charlotte High School, obtained her under-graduate degree from Johnson C. Smith University and her master’s degree from New York University. She was a teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System for 37 years. She received many honors and was named Teacher of the Year. After retirement, she volunteered in the schools of her grandkids, never ceasing to help guide the young minds of the children within her community. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Gethsemane A.M.E. Zion Church for 85 years, attending with her parents at the age of five when they relocated to Charlotte. She served as Secretary of the Sunday School, the Second Mile Club, Missionary Society Number 2 and the Sunshine Corner. Mrs. Freeman was married to James N. Freeman for 38 years, who predeceased her in death. She is survived by her beloved daughter Patricia Janene, grandchildren, Robert, III and Caitlyn Janene, and great-grandson Eli. |
