Ms. Peggy Jean Carr, 80 of Charlotte, NC passed away Friday, December 31,2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus. Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 1540 Sugar Creek Rd. West, Charlotte, NC 28262 at 1:00 pm.
Peggy Jean Curry Carr was a dedicated servant and soldier in the army of the Lord. She lived a purpose driven life of serving, sharing, and caring for people.
Peggy, lovingly called Peggy Jean and finally “Ms. Peggy”, age 80 of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, December 31, 2021. Peggy was born on May 24, 1941 in Elberton, GA to Cleo Curry. She was the oldest of six children, raised in Huntersville, NC. She was a 1959 graduate of Torrence-Lytle High School.
Peggy gave her life to Christ at an early age, was baptized, and a member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church for many years. She later transferred her membership to Greenville Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a Missionary.
Peggy discovered the love and ability to bake cakes and various desserts from her grandmother, Angeline Curry. She continued throughout her life to bake all types of cakes for birthdays, holidays, special occasions, and just for Sunday dinners.
Peggy had other love and passions that she discovered. Peggy attended Bands Beauty College where she became a licensed Beautician. She made hair styling her lifelong profession. Peggy loved the outdoors! Often times, she could be found working in her yard and planting flowers. She was a very creative person and loved finding her a special project. Peggy loved being the greatest champion for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandson.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her three daughters: Jacqueline V. Carr of Fort Washington, MD, Wendy Carr of Harrisburg, NC, Dawn Carr of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren: Wynton McNeil of Charlotte, NC, Micah McNeil of Virginia Beach, VA, Madison Matthews of Raleigh, NC, Peyton Ledbetter of Harrisburg, NC, and Clover Ledbetter of Harrisburg, NC; one great-grandson: Corinthian McNeil of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
