Mr. Franklin Conrad Smith, 80 of Indian Trail, NC passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at Novant Health Main. Celebration of His Life will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Military Rites and interment will take place Monday, August 23, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury, NC 28144 at 10:00 am

Franklin Conrad Smith was born on December 3, 1940, in Durham, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Nathaniel Smith and Nettie Lee. He departed this life on August 9, 2021, and he was 80 years old.
Raised in Baltimore Maryland, Frank graduated from Baltimore City College in 1960. Upon high school graduation, Frank joined the United States Airforce where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1964. Later, Frank received his BS Degree in Business Management from Howard University.
Frank was employed as a Capital police and later joined the Environmental Protection Agency where he retired from after forty years of service.
Frank enjoyed a good life. He loved to entertain whether with his band Elements of Love or his days as Mr. Sunshine the DJ, he knew how to have a good time. As an avid die-hard Redskins fan, he loved his burgundy and gold, his horse races, but most importantly he loved his family. He was also a great supporter of Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church, Midland, NC.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Calvenia Smith of Indian Trail, NC; two daughters, Shawntina Smith (Kenneth) of Charlotte, NC; Yvetta Jackson-Jones of Glen Burnie, MD; sister, Dorothy Prince (Jimmy) of Millbrook, AL; grandson, Justin Zimmerman of Charlotte, NC. Two sisters-in-law Renee Jenkins (Jerome) of Edgewood, MD; Tamela Davenport (Antonio) of Meriden, CT. His special cousins Edward Ashford, Clonny Artis, and Jocephus Weeks. His long time great friends Eddie Simmons, James Dow, and Gene Nichols. He is also survived by a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
