Eula Mae Reid Alexander, age 94, peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at home. She was born April 1, 1927 to parents Ernest Reid and Mary Alice Hubbard Reid in Marshville, NC. On November 2, 1949, Mama married the love of her life and most handsome Augusta Thomas Alexander. They were happily married 52 years at the time of his passing in April 2002. To this union six children were born. After graduation from J.H. Gunn School, mother was a domestic worker for several families. Later, she was employed by Wesley Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant until retirement. After retirement she very lovingly cared for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her home. Mama loved rose bushes, azaleas, and all other flowers. She looked forward to adding to her gardens each year. She strongly encouraged all of her children to help her plant and water so we would learn this enjoyable skill. Mama was an excellent cook and was known for her Mississippi Mud Cake and Coca-Cola Cake. She always prepared delicious meals each day as we grew up, even if it was breakfast for supper. After marrying Daddy, Mother joined New Hampton Presbyterian Church and was a faithful member. Mother was a true believer and follower of the Word of the Lord. She served diligently as a Deacon, an Usher, sang on the Women’s Choir and participated in the Senior Members Organization. She very graciously hosted the Senior Members’ holiday gatherings and many many years ago, hosted Missionary Society Meetings. Mom was a lifetime member of Golden Hue #15 OES-PHA. Mama loved her family dearly. She leaves to cherish the sweet memories, her six children: Gary A. Alexander (Shirley), Deborah A. Brady, Jerry L. Alexander (Beverly), Audrey A. Leeper (Ronald), Maurice W. Alexander, and Terry F. Alexander (Yevette), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Rose A. Gillespie and Geneva Alexander and one brother-in-law Isaac G. Alexander. |
