Mr. Early Pharr, 91 of Charlotte,NC passed away Saturday, April 10,2021 at Levine & Dickson Aldersgate Hospice House. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 17,2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home Chapel 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte,NC 28214. Viewing & Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 2:00pm. Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery West. Early Pharr was born on September 23, 1929, in Huntersville North Carolina. He was one of eight children and the son of Buford and Jessie Pharr. He departed this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Levine & Dickson Aldersgate Hospice House. Early grew up in Huntersville, North Carolina where he attended Huntersville High. He worked at Charles Moody Food Company and Moss Supply Window Company. Early was known for being a provider with a giving spirit. He believed in taking care of his family and he could be counted on to help those who were in need. He became an independent contractor with Crown Cab and Central & Ackers Trucking Company. He also invested in commercial and residential real estate and became the owner of several food trucks. Early was a praying man and a mentor to many young men. He would take them under his wings and teach them the value of hard work, he loved math and he encouraged them to stay in school. Early had a saying, no matter what you do – Always pay yourself first – because he believed in saving and investing in himself. Prior to his retirement he felt compelled to share his story. The story of a young African American male born in 20’s in the South who gave meaning to “Black Owned Business” before it became popular. He wrote and published his autobiography titled “Mr. Do It All”. On October 18, 1953, Early and Dicie joined together in holy matrimony. Together they became the proud parents of three beautiful children, Vivian, Michael and Cynthia. He was also the proud father of a beautiful daughter, Veronica Wright. Early was a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Huntersville, North Carolina, where he was a member of the Men’s Choir. He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Pharr, Jessie Gabriel Pharr (mother), Michael L. Pharr, Sr (son), Sarah Stitt (sister), Robert Pharr (brother), Harold Pharr (brother) and Violet Pharr (sister-in-law). Early leaves to celebrate his life, his beloved wife, Dicie Pharr; daughters, Vivian Riddick, Cynthia Hogue, Veronica Wright (Ike), God son, Eric Garrison, daughter in law, Cynthia Pharr, brothers Odell Pharr (Helen), Elliott Pharr, Otis Pharr (Inez) of Atlanta, Georgia, Clarence Williams (Barbara) and Ivey P. Williams, all of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren Kenyanta Gallmon (Randy), Marico Hogue (Betty), Michael L. Pharr, Jr. (Shelby), Chandra Miller, Myron Williams, Aquita Dobie and Suda Dobie, great grandchildren, Khalim Davis, Elijah Gallmon, Josiah Gallmon, Tyler Wescott, Syncere Pharr, Zaveah Pharr, Davonni Pharr, Zaden Pharr, Michael L. Pharr, III, Aubre Miller, Jaedyn Johnson, Jazmynne Johnson, Ashley Jackson, Jr., Ahmeire Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We thank God for his life and all his contributions to our family and his community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will truly be missed by all. |
