Mr. Marvin Long of Charlotte, NC passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Peak Resources of Charlotte, NC.
Marvin was born September 14, 1943. He transitioned into eternity on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Marvin joined St. Paul at an early age on Allen Street, Charlotte, NC and served as the Radio Announcer every Sunday morning for St. Paul, until his health declined. He graduated from Second Ward High School and was a great football player, #1 quarterback. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. We were hard on each other because I’m a Dallas Cowboy fan. Oh! the fun we shared. He worked very hard from a teenager until he retired.
He was preceded in death by, his mother Margaret Houston Long, father, Floyd Morrison Long, brothers Larry Long, Eddie Long and one sister Betty Long Sherill.
He was married to Katie Mae Wells Long and to that union three children were born.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Long, two sons, Bobby Marvin Long and Christopher Long, two step sons, Calvin Wells and Andre Allison, step daughter Doreather Wells. He was blessed with many grandchildren. Two sisters, Carolyn Houston and Barbara B. Long Sterling (Henry), brothers, James Long, Gary Long (Diane) all of Charlotte, NC, two aunts, Dricilla Long Grier and Clara Long of Charlotte, NC, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Marvin will truly be missed for his kind and humble demeanor, and the ability to bring a smile upon the face of those he knew and loved. He not only was my dearest cousin but a friend, and like a big brother to me. We shared so many childhood memories and spent a lot of time reminiscing on family values and the fun times we had during our old age.
If he could say another word he would tell us all that he is alright now. Family I say to you today we are only given today and never promised tomorrow. So make sure you tell each family member that you love them. May God continue to bless each one of you I love you from the bottom of my heart.
