Heaven called and my mother answered “Yes” on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 03:30am. She went with peace to be with her heavenly Father who she knew loved her. Bessie Mason Lowry was born on December 31, 1920 to Earnest Mason and Susie Davis in Gastonia, North Carolina. She grew up in York County. Bessie was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Matthew Lowry and had a blessed union of sixty-one years. During that time, Bessie was dedicated to being a homemaker and a foster parent to many children especially babies. She was a miracle worker when it came to nurturing sick babies back to health. Because of her dedication and heart of gold, Bessie received the South Carolina Foster Parent of the Year Award. During her free time, time she was a social butterfly that never met a stranger and would give you her very last. Bessie LIVED life to the fullest and never wasted a moment of the time God granted her. Bessie was a member of St Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She sang with the hymn choir and had the most beautiful soprano voice I ever heard. At home she was always sing her favorite song, “I’ll Fly Away”. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter, Plumey Mae Lowry, her loving husband Matthew “Mapp” Lowry, sisters, Rosie Lee Davis, Virginia Harris, Floree Williams, and brother James Davis. Mom was the last living aunt of the Lowry’s family. She leaves behind a daughter Annie Lowry Jordan (Andrew) of Lake Wylie, SC, a sister Valarie Holly, Chester, SC, three grandchildren Corvus Matthew Lowry, Vacaville, CA, Brittany Nicole Kennon, and Megan Donneshia Kennon of Charlotte, NC, one grandson Jamir De’Von White of Charlotte, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
