Mr.James Eugene Little 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away Sunday, August 30,2020 at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Mint Hill, NC. Public viewing will held Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel 2:00 pm- 5:00 pm. Celebration of Life will take place Friday, September 5, 2020 at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227 at 12:00 pm. Mr. James Eugene Little was born on June 15, 1932 in Union County, North Carolina to the late Thomas James and Inez Nixon Little. James answered the call to live eternally with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 30, 2020 at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Mint Hill, North Carolina. James was educated in Union County public schools, graduating from Western Union High School (now known as Marvin High School). James accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, attending Rock Hill African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Indian Trail, NC. In 1956, he relocated to New Jersey where he joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. At Mt. Olivet he served as the Chaplain for the Adult Fellowship Ministry and most honorably as a Deacon and Chairman of the Deacon board for 32 years. James worked as a Longshoreman for 31 years for the New York Shipping Association at Port Newark Waterfront, retiring in 1997 as a Stevedore. He joined King William Grand Lodge of New Jersey and attended the Keystone Lodge #12 AM & FM. He earned his 33rd degree and served as Worshipful Master for 5 years. James also served as Haggai Royal Arch and Patron of Sarah Chapter #14. After retirement, James relocated back to North Carolina where he enjoyed, walking his dog and working in his yard, growing beautiful plants, flowers and vegetables in which passersbys would complement on a frequent basis. He also reconnected with his home church, Rock Hill A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a faithful member of Bible Study and Sunday School. He served on the Men’s booster club and as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. James also served diligently on the Steward Board until his health prohibited him from serving physically. On July 8, 2000, James married the love of his life, Dianne Washington where they loved celebrating milestones parties, hosting family and attending family gatherings. James was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cynthia Marie Little, his siblings: Willie Mae, Arnetha, John, Marshall and Daryl. He leaves to cherish his fondest memories, his loving and devoted wife Dianne, two children, Horace Roberts; Kim Zacharias(Christopher); four sisters, Jessie, Ida, Chettie, Cora and Charlene; five brothers, Ted (Arnel), Jimmie(Martha), Charles, Jarvis(Joy) and David; five grandchildren, Crystal, Hakim, Nakayla, Marley and Carson, three great grandchildren, a whole of host of cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. |
