Nora Nita Evans

Mrs. Nora Nita Evans, 88 of Charlotte, NC passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Asbury Health and Rehabilitation Center Charlotte, NC. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel.

Nora Nita Evans went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2020 in Charlotte, NC. She was one of 5 children born to Anna & Thomas Owens on March 2,1932.

Prior to moving to Charlotte, she was a long time resident of Mt. Hope and Institute, West Virginia.

After attending West Virginia State College  she obtained a nursing degree from Freedman’s School of Nursing (now Howard Univ.) in Washington, D C. She worked for several Beckley, West Virginia clinics & hospitals before moving to Institute to work for West Virginia State College (University) in 1970.

Nita retired from West Virginia State University in April,1992 as a nurse having lovingly served many students for over 22 years.

She is survived by her 3 children, from her union with Nathaniel Hundley Walker,  Beverly Walker Raynor, Deborah Walker, Nathaniel Thomas Walker and two grandsons, Gregory Raynor and Oscar Raynor, Jr. Also her 3 neices, Marilyn Thornton, Mona Lyons and Kim Owens, 2 nephews Franklin Crawford and Stephen Owens, many cousins and friends.
