Service Announcements

Mr. Walter A. Reid, Jr. 56, of Charlotte,NC. passed away Wednesday October 25, 2017 at his residence. Memorial service will be held Thursday November 9 , 2017 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel starting at 6:00 pm.

Walter Andrew Reid or as we all knew and love as “Andy” was born on July 25, 1961 to the late Rev. Walter Reid and Esther Sitton Reid in Manhattan, NY.  He was their second child.  He passed on October 25, 2017 in his home in Charlotte, NC.

Andy received his early childhood education in New York at The Och School P.S.111, LaSalle Junior High School 17 and Mary Bertram High School.

Andy attended and then was baptized at Triumph Baptist Church in New York where his father was the Pastor.  He sang in the Junior Choir, then served on the Usher Board and on the Trustee Board.

He worked as a carrier for Federal Express for 18 years.  He then left    New York to move to Charlotte, NC to care for his father until his passing in 2016.

Andy loved to travel, he also loved cooking, baking and socializing.  One thing Andy loved as much as his family was sports.  He loved a good basketball and football game with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Diana Reid, of The Bronx, NY, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his brother, Rev. Martin W. Reid (2009).
