Service Announcements

Mrs. Virginia Knighton Wallace, 81, of Charlotte,NC passed away Thursday ,March 14, 2019 at her residence. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Grier Heights Presbyterian Church 325 Skyland Ave. Charlotte, NC 28207. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 1504 Sugar Creek Rd. West Charlotte, NC 28269

Virginia was born in York County on February 14, 1938 to the late Cora and John
Knighton. She was preceded in death in 1999 by the love of her life and devoted
father, Matthew “Mack” Wallace.
“Ginny” as she was aaffectionately known, has always loved the Lord. She was a faithful
member of Grier Heights Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, a Choir
Member and a member of the United Presbyterian Women’s Organization.
She grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina and attended Emmett-Scott Elementary and
High School. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at
Barber Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina, where she received her Bachelors of
Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed with Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools as teacher for 30 years. She met and fell in love with Matthew Wallace, they
were married in 1958 and to this union two children were born: Victor Antonio Wallace
and Cecelia Correne Wallace, from there they began their life journey in the Grier
Heights Community.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories of the marriage: Victor Antonio Wallace
(Anissa Copeland), Cecelia Correne Wallace (Willie G. Hood), and Granddaughter Taylor
Victoria Wallace and loving memories of her stepchildren: Reginald Gilmore (Rita
Howze), Patricia Davis (Charles Davis), Regina Ross, and a host of grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and friends.
