With hearts full of memories and joy, we celebrate the life of Troy Anthony Thompson, who was born on June 28, 1989, and passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025. Troy, fondly known as “Sylas” to friends and family, was a source of light and laughter whose spirit touched everyone he encountered.
Troy was a man of simple pleasures, with a heart that was as big as this world. He found joy in the little things: a good Dr. Pepper, playing video games, and the savory taste of chili cheese. His love for music was vast, with a particular fondness for the sounds of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, and he could easily get lost in the magic of his favorite albums. Troy also cherished timeless classics like *The Lord of the Rings* and *Star Wars*, and he had a special place in his heart for animals.
Growing up, Troy loved skateboarding, playing video games and often spent time with friends. He embraced life with an open heart and a thoughtful spirit, always reaching out to remind others that he loved them or was thinking of them. For him, any day was a good day as long as his family was safe and happy. His love extended far beyond his immediate family; if you were Troy’s friend, you instantly became family.
Troy graduated from Waddell High School. He had a profound respect for his parents, and his daughter, but perhaps none were as close to his heart as his brothers and Uncle Kyle.
Troy leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Harmony Grace Marley Thompson; parents, Nubia Umrani Olubowale and Michael Eugene (Nannet) Thompson Sr.; brothers, Michael E. (Sherlenia) Thompson II and Correy Lamar (Brittany Jones); sister, Shatoria Monroe; grandmothers, Frieda Thompson and Sharon Moore; nephews, Zane Thompson and Willie Simmons; niece, Zoey Thompson; and uncle, Kyle (Marquita) Thompson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Thompson and uncle Shawn Thompson Sr.
Troy had a big heart and loved everyone. If you knew him, you knew he loved you. He made sure of it…
The funeral will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Long and Son Mortuary Service, Inc. Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
