Service Announcements

Mrs. Theresa Gaston 90, of Charlotte, NC. passed away Thursday, February 21,2019 at Sharon Towers Charlotte,NC.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM. the visitation will begin at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Shiloh First Presbyterian Church, Winnsboro, SC.

Terri had many achievements in life which included holding degrees from Talladega College, Catholic University, and Johns Hopkins University.  She was a Life Member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  Terri served on the Strategy Committee for Parren Mitchell’s (the first Black Congressman from Maryland) campaign for Congress and volunteered in the African Governance Department at the Carter Presidential Center.

In Charlotte, Terri was a Charter Member of the Charlotte Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women.  She served on the Campaign Committee for Harvey Gantt’s first mayoral run.

Terri was a Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for more than fifty years and a financial member of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter.  She served on the Steering Committee to elect Bertha Maxwell Roddey as National President, as well as the Steering Committee for the Delta Sigma Theta Regional Conference held in Charlotte, NC in 1999.  Terri was a member of the Deltas of Charlotte Foundation and a Charter Member of the Delta Center, located at 4508 Beatties Ford Road.

Terri loved to travel the world.  Some of her trips included:  Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, and several islands of the Caribbean.

Terri found a life of fultillment in her marriage to the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Gaston and her membership and participation at Memorial Presbyterian Church, the sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and a rich fellowship with family and friends.
