Ruben Buggs, age 75, died at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. The cause was complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Born March 16, 1941, in Newport News, VA, he attended Elizabeth City State University in NC before settling in Washington, DC and later southern Maryland. He retired as a principal from Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland, and later moved to Huntersville, NC with his wife, Gwendolyn. Ruben was a Founding Father, Deacon, and Trustee at Christian Unity Baptist Church in Waldorf, MD. He became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte in 2008.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., and the worship celebration will begin at noon on Saturday, December 3 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the general scholarship fund at Elizabeth City State University be made in honor of Ruben Buggs, class of 1965.
