Mr. Roy  Stewart 84,of  Charlotte, NC. Funeral service will be held Monday February 26, 2018 at China Grove AME Zion Church 9401 China Grove Church Rd. Charlotte, NC 28217. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and service will follow at 2:00 pm. Military rites and interment will take place in the Church cemetery.Roy Stewart, humbly bowed to God’s will and peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was born in Pineville, North Carolina on October 30, 1933 to the late Milton Stewart and Hattie Stewart.
Roy graduated from Sterling High School and entered the Navy where he was Honorably Discharged in 1962. He retired from Standard and Consolidated Trucking Company. He was a life time member of China Grove A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a member of the Men of China Grove and the Steward Board in his younger years. He was also a member of Ramsey Temple 51.
Roy embraced life and enjoyed cooking, playing spades, and traveling. His greatest passion was spending time with his family and he always welcomed good conversation. He was a loving husband for over 57 years, a caring, devoted grandfather and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his sibling Sammie Lee Stewart and Magdalen Stewart.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Eveline Stewart; two sons Greg Stewart and Quinn Stewart of Charlotte, NC; two Daughters, Vonnie Rankin and Teann Stewart of Charlotte, NC; one sister Edna Smith of Pineville, NC; four grandchildren, Koji Stewart, Xavier Rankin, Ja’Michael Stewart, and A’jerrel Stewart of Charlotte NC; and a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
