I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Robert O. Harris, who was more affectionately known as Bobby or Bob by his family and friends, was born on June 13, 1943 in New York City to Jacob and Mary Lyles Harris. He was raised in Long Branch, New Jersey. Growing up on the Jersey shore gave him a great love of the ocean where he spent a lot of him time as a child. He graduated from Long Branch High School. He remained in the NY Tri-State Area for his early adult years where he met his wife, Mary.

In 1971, they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In Fort Wayne, Bob and his wife raised 3 children, two sons and a daughter. Bob had a long career as a route salesman for the Continental Baking Company. After putting all three of his children through college and working hard for many years, he retired in 2005 and moved to Charlotte, NC in 2008.

His favorite past-times were spending time talking with family and friends, watching movies, reading anything he got his hands on, and playing his numbers.

Bob was practical, hard-working, a natural protector, honest, patient, and good-hearted. Because of his good-nature, people were drawn to him. All of his qualities made him an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his love of knowledge and learning about anything and everything, his strong work ethic, and his love of and generosity toward his family.

Bob was an active member of Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 30 years and later a member of Grace A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.
