Mr. Reginald Lee Dennis, 52, of Charlotte, NC passed away Thursday , February 3, 2022 at his residence. Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm.

Reginald Lee Dennis was born on Friday, March 8, 1968 at 3:22 PM. He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from Myers Park High School. Growing up, he spent his summers in Baltimore, Maryland with his great aunt, “Aunt Dot”, (The Crosby’s). After graduating from high school, he studied music at Central Piedmont Community College. While attending high school he worked various jobs including the law firm of Chambers, Stein, Ferguson, et al, and later worked for a local drug store chain for 25 years. Always playing his music.
Reggie developed a love for music at an extremely early age. He was always able to quickly identify various instruments when listening to music. Reggie was mentored by Johnny Holloway who introduced him to the local Charlotte music community. In addition to playing with Johnny Holloway, throughout the years Reggie continued to play with numerous groups and musicians in the Charlotte-metro area including playing at Seigle Avenue Presbyterian Church on Sundays and for the past 11 years he was the bass guitarist at The Fellowship Place on Sundays. Most recently he was a member of Jazz Revolution Band while also playing with a variety of other local musical groups.
Reggie knew his purpose and lived it. He loved people. He was gentle, caring, supportive, and thoughtful. He assisted in the care of his older relatives in any way that he could. In addition to his love for music, Reggie loved and appreciated nature, and loved to travel which he was fortunate enough to experience and enjoy through playing his music. He loved to read and enjoyed watching movies, docuseries/documentaries, and standup comedians. He liked good food and some of his favorites were deviled eggs, “Tommie Green’s” pizza, and a good spinach dip. Reggie had a unique sense of humor.
Left to treasure his many, precious, memories and loving, kind spirit are his mother, Theresa Dennis, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and a host of friends.
