The higher education financial aid profession is also how I became acquainted with Rance. He was never stingy with the knowledge and experience he'd gained over the years and was always ready to do whatever I needed in that moment, whether it be to listen, observe, encourage, teach, etc. When I became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and joined the choir, he was already there as a member of the bass section. That turned out to be a joyous reunion for us and we had some great times ministering together. Rance was thoughtful and loving as a dear friend who I will miss profoundly. In closing, "Death takes the body. God takes the soul. Our mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps the love. Our faith lets us know we will meet again." (from Kelly's Treehouse)

Sending my most heartfelt sympathy to the Jackson family. Rance and I were friends and colleagues for over 30 years. Through the years we shared our families’ joy, sorrow, heart break and success. He was a gentle giant, always greeting you with a smile and words of wisdom in his unique comical way. My dear friend will be truly missed. May your wonderful memories give you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Rance and I were financial aid colleagues for a number of years. We worked together closely in our state and regional associations. He was a mentor and a dear friend. We always talked about music and sports. Anytime I had a question or problem, he was always there to help and listen. He was the coolest of guys and the most gentlemanly guy I have ever met. I will deeply miss his friendship and his constant smile and zest for life. Amy Berrier Associate Director of Financial Aid] Central Carolina Community College Sanford, NC

I always enjoyed being around Rance. We were financial aid colleagues and friends. I spent a week with him, teaching a class to new financial aid officers and we had so much fun. I had a lot of respect for him. So sorry for this loss.
