Service Announcements

Dear June, Beverley, Peter and We are saddened to learn that Uncle Oscar has passed away. June texted us this morning and we forwarded her message to our children. Please accept our condolences at this sad time. Thank you Kwame and Raina for facilitating and sharing the service with us. The end of an era has passed, but please allow us to remember and celebrate the honor of having known a most outstanding relative and son of Guyana. I have known Uncle Oscar for all of my life; from his close friendship with my father and mother, to the family he raised with Aunt Olive. I remember his whistle to alert my father that he had come to our home. Sealed in my memory is the pride my mother expressed when he once stopped at our home to show us his new car. We also recall the honorable and outstanding service he rendered both nationally and internationally for the country and people of his native land. He carried himself with dignity and earned the respect of those with whom he came into contact. Our family is all the better for experiencing his kindheartedness, generousity, sincerity, compassion, love of family, and strong religious faith. If I may, I will end with a line from Shakespeare. 'His life was gentle; and the elements So mixed in him, that Nature might stand up And say to all the world, THIS WAS A MAN!' May God rest your soul Uncle Oscar. Horton, Annette and family
