Service Announcements

Miss Nijeria  Thornton 31, of Charlotte. passed away November 7 ,2016 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House Huntersville, NC. Funeral service will be held Saturday November 12 , 2016 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and the service will follow at 1:00 pm.

Nijeria Monik Thornton ( Nija) was born on August 5, 1985 to Brenda LeGree Williams and Timothy Thornton in Rochester, New York.

Nijeria was educated in Rochester city school District and charlotte Mecklenburg school District

From early childhood, the love of the Lord was planted in her tender mind. She was a member and baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Rochester, New York under the leadership of Pastor John Crocker. She served on the Usher Board, Step Team and other youth activities within the youth department.

She worked as a Personal Care Aide for which she shared her caring nature to others. She was gifted in doing hair and enjoyed cooking. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Brenda Williams of Charlotte, Carolina, father Timothy Thornton of Rochester, New York, 2 Sons Ahmad Tyree, Atarianna Ari (TT) and Amir Curtis all of charlotte, North Carolina, 1 brother Curtis Levar Redden of Charlotte, North Carolina.

2 uncles, Alphonse LeGree (Arlette) of Port Jervis, New York, Rev. Franklin LeGree, Jr. (Loretta) of Rochester, New  York.  1 aunt Donna LeGree, 2 great aunts Emma LeGree, Pinky Weaver of Rochester New York, 1 nephew Raekwon Bishop Redden of Charlotte, North Carolina.
