Mr. Neal  S. Huntley, son of the late Johnny Huntley Jr and Martha Cuthbertson Huntley, was born November 20, 1933 in Union County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, December 8, 2017 and went home to be with the Lord.

He joined Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he served faithfully until his declining health. He served as a deacon, was involved in the cemetery ministry, grounds keeper and parking. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Hattie Jeanette Knotts. To this union two children were born.

He attended night school to obtain his certification in masonry. He was very involved in establishing the first boy scout troop in Crestdale community. He assisted with the creation of the Crestdale Community Organization which was responsible for community development grants.

Neal was truly an example of an entrepreneur. He started by selling and delivering wood, later he opened a community store. He looked for opportunities to earn an income which lead to a lawn care business where he has worked for 55 years.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Huntley, and one sister, Bertha Huntley Carelock.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Neal Bernard Huntley (Bobbie), one daughter, Teresa Huntley McDow, one grandson, Kenneth Marcus McDow of Monroe, NC, three sisters, Mable Rush (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC, Willie B. Hunter of Matthews, NC and Iris Pharr of Charlotte, NC, one brother Bishop J. W. Huntley of Winston Salem, NC, a very special friend Rachel Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
