Mrs. Mary M. McKinney Coleman, 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her residence. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Faith CME Church, 457 Wellingford Street, Charlotte, NC 28213. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens Huntersville, NC 28078.

Mother Mary Magdalene McKinney Coleman, “MC”, 82, was born in Greenville, SC. She moved to New York and lived there for 30 years prior to her residing in Charlotte, NC. On June 21, 2018, Thursday evening at 7:40, she transitioned from her earthly home to her best and final place to reside with the Lord. She was the second oldest child born of Elouise and Frank McKinney. MC loved cooking for her family, helping others and retired after extending her education and to become a self-employed experienced caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Berry Coleman, a son Kenneth Coleman, a brother Myra “Goo-Baby” McKinney, and sister Hattie Mae McKinney.

She leaves behind to treasure her memories in two sons Richard Coleman, Charlotte, NC; Johnny (Carolyn) Coleman, Indian Trail, NC; three daughters Carolyn Thomas and Novelynn Sesay both of Charlotte, NC; and Mary (Willie) Neal, Greenville, SC; three brothers Clyde (Elizabeth) McKinney, Melvin McKinney and Marvin McKinney all of Greenville, SC; two sisters Mildred (Jimmy) Sherman of Columbia, SC and Mary Cheeks of Gary Court, SC; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 on the way. Special friends include Pattie Ellis, Vivian Edmonds, Mr. Curtis Smith all of Charlotte, NC; a sister-in-law Ethelene (Charles) McKenzie of Waxhaw, N.C., along with a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
