Mr.Marris Bernard Farmer 59, of Charlotte, NC. passed away Wednesday, March 10,2021 at his residence. A walk through viewing will be held Monday, March 15,2021 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel from 4:00 pm -5 : 00 pm. Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, March 16,2021 at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church 9900 Christianbury PKWY. Concord,NC 28028 at 1:00 pm . Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Marris Bernard Farmer, the son of Zilla Stevenson Farmer and the late Anthony Fleming Farmer, was born December 21, 1961 in Whiteville, NC and made his heavenly departure on March 10, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. He spent his early life in Whiteville and moved to Charlotte at the age of 4. He accepted Christ into his life at a young age at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church. Marris was active in the church for many years singing in the Voices of Zion Choir and serving as an usher.

 

Marris graduated from North Mecklenburg High school and attended Livingstone College. While at North Mecklenburg High School, he played football, wrestled and participated in track and field. In football, Marris was a star player. He was both all county and all state.

Marris worked as a crane operator for Ameristeeel for over 30 years until he retired in 2017.  He was married to the love of his life Delphine Doster Farmer. They had many happy years together until her passing in March of 2020.

Marris is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Fleming Farmer, one brother, Rickey Allen Farmer, and his beloved wife, Delphine Doster Farmer. He is survived by his mother, Zilla Stevenson Farmer; one brother, Rev. Marcus E. Farmer (Ava); one sister, Vickey M. Miller (Derick); four nephews, Anthony V. Farmer (Christina), Jonathan A. Farmer (Valery), Brandon A. Farmer and Dedrick Miller; three nieces, Rev. Erica D. Unuajefe (Victor), Aaliyah A. Farmer and Makayla A. Miller; along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
