Share your Memorial with Family & Friends
The passing of Bishop Louis Hunter, Sr. has left a hollow and empty place in our hearts. Dr. Hunter not only officiated the wedding nuptials between Terry and I, he and Ingrid became loyal and valued friends... best described as a kinship of unwavering love and adoration. There are so many spiritual lessons learned while under the guidance of this shepherd, many memorialized in our sermon notes from one Sunday to the next, and others seen in his living example. However, the greatest lessons were manifest in the manner in which Bishop served the people, led the people and loved the people. Your time here in this earthly realm was a gift to all you touched... rest in heaven Bishop. Terry & Cerelyn Davis

To the Family of the Late Bishop Louis Hunter, Sr. We would like to extend our sympathy and prayers during this difficult time, and share a few words of love and thoughts. My husband and I, joined the Lomax AME Zion Church, under the Pastoral and dynamic leadership of Rev. Hunter. As a Pastor, he was intentional, very personal, a great administrator with a kind, and beautiful spirit. Please know, we care for your family, and hold you close in our heart and wish you peace in the days to come. Our Hearts are filled with sadness. Our Memories are filled with much love. Our Thoughts are close beside you. Thank you for sharing your loved one with us. Love and Peace! Clifton and Ruthy Brown - Lorton, VA

To the family of Rev. Dr. Louis Hunter; I had the privilege receiving Christ as Lord and Savior and accepted the right hand of fellowship on November 22nd 1981, at Lomax AMEZ Church located in Arlington, VA. Later, when I sensed the call of God to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus, Dr. Hunter scheduled my Trial Sermon for the fourth Sunday of March 1983. He had everybody who was somebody in ZION to hear me. After serving under him as a local preacher, I sensed God leading me from ZION. When I shared this with Dr. Hunter, with tears in his eyes he said to me, ‘You must always follow God’, and released me with his blessings. Although I move on and became a Pentecostal Word of Faith Preacher we were able to maintain a Father/Son relationship. His impact in my life is completely irreplaceable. 1st Corinthians 4:15 says “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” Oh yes, I’ve had so many teachers and I am so very grateful. However, only one has begotten me through the preaching of the Gospel and that is the great Rev. Dr. Hunter, my father in Christ and Christian ministry. He was always proud of my obedience to the call of God as his son in ministry. I was always proud to let everyone know he was/is my father in ministry. Over the years we maintained contact, primarily by phone. It was always rich with wise words of encouragement. Please be encouraged family, for I’m sure your hearts are broken as you grieve over this great loss. If I can be of any assistance please let me know. Rev. Dr. Tony McGhee Son in ministry of Rev. Dr. Louis Hunter Sr.
