On Saturday, September 14, 2019 God chose Louis Henry “Yama” Hardy to transition from earthly labor to peaceful eternal rest. Born October 12, 1967 to the late Rev. William Griffin, Jr. and Loretta Elizabeth Hardy in Kinston, North Carolina.

“Yama” as he was affectionally called by his family and friends growing up, was a sheer delight at every gathering.  He is a 1985 graduate of Kinston High School. After high school, Louis enlisted in the United States Army. Louis met and married his high school sweetheart, Tynnetta Chapman Hardy of whom he was married to for 31 years. He graduated from East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI).  Louis was employed with Microsoft Corporation for 20 years serving as a Senior Support Escalation Engineer.

Louis was a philanthropist who cared deeply about all those around him. For years Louis gave generously to 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte,  Masjid Ash Shaheed Scholarship fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way,  YBM Leadership Network, Campus Connection Bible Centered Teaching, Inc. and Jessie’s Place Veterans Home.

Every year at Christmas he would play Santa Claus and deliver gifts to children.  He was a mentor to many and gave freely to children in college. He never forgot his humble beginnings.

Louis was an avid lover of audio books. He was a UNC Tarheel fan and of course, he loved his Pittsburgh Steelers.   He looked forward to his standing weekly card games. We will remember most that he had an acute ability to make everyone around him laugh.

Louis leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Tynnetta C. Hardy of the home; daughter Kamaria Elizabeth Hardy; son, Khalil Louis Hardy both of the home; His siblings; James Hardy of California, Sara Brown of Hartford, CT and Sandra Elizabeth Hardy of Kinston, NC, Louise Little of Goldsboro NC, Paulette Bowman of Windsor, CT, William Hardy of Kinston, NC, and Michelle  Gooding (Vincent) of Kinston, NC.  His In-Laws; Lateefah El-Alain of Charlotte NC, Saladdin Chapman(Kim) Smyma, GA, Elijah Chapman (Ruth) Knightdale, NC, Yasmin Muhammad (Michael) Charlotte NC, Kadiyah  Stinnette (Jawhar) Parksville MD.
