Mrs. Lothell M. Ramseur 88, of Charlotte,NC. passed away Sunday March 18, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center – Main.Funeral service will be held Saturday March 24, 2018 at Greater Gethsemane AME Zion Church 531 Campus St. Charlotte, NC 28216. Visitation will began at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens Huntersville, NC.
Mrs. Lothell McLurkin Ramseur was one of two daughters born to Lois Miller on
January 2, 1930 in Chester, South Carolina. She quietly entered into eternal rest
on Sunday, March 19, 2018 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lothell began her formal education in the public schools of Chester County,
attending Pleasant View Elementary School. After graduating from Finley High
School in 1949, she matriculated at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte,
North Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
Further studies were done in the field of education during various seminaries and
workshops.
Lothell began her career endeavor as an elementary teacher in Lincolnton, North
Carolina. A devoted and caring teacher, her life was truly spent in the field of
education. She retired after thirty five years.
Lothell married the love of her life, Charles Ramseur in 1960. Her greatest joy
was the birth of her son, Charles Ramseur, Jr., and later the births of her
granddaughter, Kennedy and grandson, Christian.
Lothell joined Gethsemane AMEZ Church while attending Johnson C. Smith
University. Worship for her was very important. She served with the Youth
Missionary Department, served as Parent Body President of the missionaries and
enjoyed having meeting at her home. She was a member of the Second Mile
Club, Sunshine Corner, Steward Board, Deaconess Board and the Church Clerk for
Over forty years. Lothell was an active member of the National Association of
Negro Business and Professional Women.
Lothell was a joy to be around. She enjoyed decorating, gardening, and crossword
puzzles. Her passion was decorating the bulletin boards in the church. She was
known for her fashionable hats, colorful scarves and beautiful flowers that
adorned her outfits.
Lothell was preceded in death by her mother,sister, step‐daughter and husband.
Lothell is survived by: son, Charles Ramseur, Jr. (Shawn); stepson, Vaughn
(Charlotte); one grandson, three granddaughters; a special cousin, John Johnson
(Sally);best friend, Ann Freeman; a goddaughter, Leanette Kirkpatrick; and a host
of relatives and friends.
