The Obituary
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body
and to the present with the Lord.”
II Corinthians 5:8
Lillie B. Scott Davis was born on October 12, 1948 in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the late William H. Scott, Sr. and Bettie Bowser Scott. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and co-worker went home peacefully with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at her residence in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lillie graduated from John A. Chaloner High School in Roanoke Rapids, NC in 1968. During her early life, she became a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina and later became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC in 1977 where she was an active member of the Loaves and Fishes Ministry until her death.
On June 3, 1972, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Paul T. Davis and God blessed this union with two beautiful children. Lillie enjoyed cooking, cleaning, exercising, eating healthy, working with kids, and spending quality time with family and friends.
She worked at Friendship Child Development Center which later became Marizetta Kerry Child Development Center, located at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, for more than 37 years helping to rear and guide 3 generations of local children. Lillie received further training and practical experience in Early Childhood Development at Central Piedmont Community College. Many of the children who started out in her beloved “Infant Class” would come by, after growing up, just to visit her and say hello. Many parents were amazed at how she could get those ‘little people” to follow instructions and be still during special programs. Lillie is still loved and will truly be missed by the entire Marietta Kerry Child Development Center Family and former co-workers.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul Davis, of the home; two daughters, Charlene Preston (Eddie) of Rustburg, VA, and Chrystal Davis of Plano, TX; one grandchild, Drake Preston of Rustburg, VA; one brother, William Scott, Jr. (Ernestine) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; four sisters-in-law, Mary Faulcon (Joseph) of Conyers, GA, Susie Jackson of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Delores Davis of South Boston, VA, Ernestine Davis-Taylor of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, co-workers, and church members in and out of town.
