Lessie Morrow Miller, 92, departed this earthly world for her heavenly home on Friday, July 29. She was born March 1, 1924 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Ben and Savannah Jeter Springs Morrow. Before her heart stopped, she fought the complications of several health challenges with the same kind of optimism, courage, and determination that she exhibited throughout her life.

She is survived by her dutiful, loyal, attached, and faithful daughter Gloria, grandchildren Phillip H. Richardson, Gregory L. Richardson, and Sharron R. Evans, nine great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of relatives.
Lessie was united in marriage for 62 years to the late Hosea Miller, Sr.; she was preceded in death by her only son Hosea Miller, Jr. and her daughters Barbara Jean Miller and Lorene Miller Richardson.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend are a few of the roles she played well. It brought her great joy to have all of her family members together. It was her habit to put the needs of others before her own. This was especially true with her care and devotion to family and church.
Lessie, a life-long member, joined Gold Hill A. M. E. Zion Church when she was a child and remained an active member after moving to Charlotte in the 40s.
A service to celebrate the life of Lessie Morrow Miller will be held at Gold Hill A. M. E. Zion Church at 9239 Van Wyck Road, Lancaster, South Carolina, on Saturday, August 6, at 12 Noon. Visitation will be Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Long & Son Mortuary Service at 2312 Beatties Ford Road. The Order of the Eastern Star’s ceremony is during the visitation from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Long and Son Mortuary.
