I wouldn't have made it through my first year of teaching if it hadn't been for Mr. Miller. I went on to teach another 34 years in CMS. He was a mentor, role model, hero, and icon - an original, the likes of which we won't see again. He will be greatly missed. Connie Nowlin

My sincere condolences to the family of Pop Miller. Pop was my principal at East Meck, but he was so much more. Pop Miller taught me more about life than all my classroom studies combined. At a time when racial tensions were so very high, Pop was a calming influence. He didn't look at his students as black kids or white kids; we were all the same in his eyes. I am honored to have known Pop Miller and I can say that I truely loved the man. May God bless his family in this time of need.

What a privilege for our family to know and to love Pop Miller. Our children were students at East Meck in the late 70's and early 80's. During that time,I served a PTA President under Pop' leadership. He inspired, he influenced, he was fair to all, he cared about and loved every student and parent. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am truly saddend for the family of Mr. Miller at their loss, for Pop was my boss and my friend. I was a teacher at East Mecklenburg when Pop Miller came to the school back in 1973; he turned the school around and made the students at East proud to be "Golden Eagles." I am honored to have known such a man and to have had had him as my principal. Augie Beasley
