Mr.L.C. Smith 78, of Concord, NC . passed away Thursday, January 17,2019 at Carolians Medical Center – Northeast Concord, NC. Funeral service will be held Wednesday January 23, 2019 at Chappel Memorial Baptist Church 110 Bradford Dr. Charlotte, NC 28208. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Park Hightway 29 North Kannapolis, NC 28083.
Mr. L.C. Smith (Lighting) was born in Scotland County, July 10th, 1940, the son of the late Annie Lee Smith and Norman Smith. He departed this life on January 17th, 2019 at Carolina Medical Center Northeast in Concord, North Carolina.
Mr. Smith graduated from Carver High school in 1960 where he participated as a member of their basketball team. He loved sports, especially bowling and NASCAR. He worked at Howard Johnson, H.L. Bowers and retired from Mitchell Distributing Company after over 35 years of dedicated service. Mr. Smith was an excellent provider until an accident rendered him unable to work, though he suffered from this incident, he still gave all he had to his family.
At an early age he committed his life to Christ and upon relocating to Charlotte, NC, he became a member of Providence Baptist Church. Later Years Urban Renewal came through the Greenville Neighborhood and he then became a member of Chappell Memorial Baptist Church. Here he became a member of the board of trustees and worked diligently in the church.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to his soulmate Mrs. Lee Ruth Smith in 1965 who proceeded him in death. Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Mrs. Cheryl L. Rhodes (Alvin Rhodes) and Dana L. Smith. Three Grand-children, Tenekia L. Davis- Garvin (Aarin Davis-Garvin), Tamara L. Barber and Tierra L. Barber. Five Great grand- children, Serenity I. Barber, MaKayla S. Barber, MiKael E. Barber, Caleb X. Davis-Garvin, and Tristan L. Davis-Garvin. Two living sisters, Rosa Lee Iverson (Hazel Iverson-deceased), Louise Rowland, and one sister who preceded him in death Shirley Mae Moore (Jerry Moore), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
