Mr. James Freeman Boston, Sr. 71 of Charlotte, NC. passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at CMC-Mercy. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 9,2018 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Military rites and interment will be in the Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens 11201 Beatties Ford Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078.

 

Mr. James Freeman Boston, Sr. entered this world on May 17, 1947. To the loving parents of the late, Freeman Boston and Sally O. Boston. James fought the good fight and battled a short illness, until his transition from his earthly confines to Eternal rest on November 4, 2018.

James was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg  School System. He attended West Charlotte Senior High School, and graduated in the class of 1965. While in photography class, he met the girl of his dreams, and the love of his life Brenda Dixon. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army, where he fought in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from his duties with the U.S. Army, he and Brenda D. Boston, were united in holy matrimony. Their vows took them through 42 years of marriage, until death departed them. From their love they created two loving sons; James F. Boston, Jr. (Jimmy) and the late Demond C. Boston. Whom they cherished with all their heart.

James worked for General Tire & Rubber, and after 32 years he retired. James loved children and after retirement he dedicated his time to the Sugar Creek Charter School for several years.

James loved the Lord and joined Second Calvary Baptist Church, where he became a Deacon. He also coached the youth softball teams, sung on several choirs, and headed the culinary committee for many years. James lived life to the fullest. He had many hobbies in his life, fishing , bowling, cooking, CB radio, entertaining, the casinos, dancing, and playing cards, especially Pinochle. He was an avid Pinochle player, and was a member of the Charlotte Players Card club and traveled to various states to compete.

James leaves to carry his legacy and memory his only surviving son; James F. Boston, Jr. (Jimmy), his daughter-in-love; Donna Gore, sister-in-law; Frances Dale Dixon, and niece; Daniella Dixon, Monica Robinson, Tanaya Shipp, special cousin; Belinda Huntley, and a host of cousins and friends.
