Israel Baxter Franks, affectionately called “Babe’, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 9, 1935, in Charlotte, NC, Israel lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family and friends. Israel served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career working with Consolidated Engravers, Sealtest, and Overnight Trucking Company, eventually retiring after many years of dedicated service. Israel spent over 60 wonderful years with his wife, Gloria, building a family that he held dear. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; sons, Jerry B. Springs (Beatrice) and Israel A. Franks (Dwinda), Al (Cheryl), his cherished grandchildren, Jamaal, Jasmine, Israel A. Jr., Nicholas, and Carrington; and 10 beloved great-grandchildren who brought joy to his later years. Israel will also be fondly remembered by his lifelong friends Tom Berry, Danny Honeycutt, JC Blanchard, and Jerry Fernandez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jackson and Eppia Franks Jackson. Israel Baxter Franks’ kindness, strength, and steadfast love left an enduring legacy. His family and friends will carry his memory in their hearts, honoring the remarkable life he lived.
