Mr. Henry Stephen Grady 69, of Charlotte, NC. passed away Friday February 9,2018 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Charlotte, NC. Funeral service will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church West. 1801 Oaklawn Ave. Charlotte, NC 28216. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Military Rites and Entombment will take place in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
Henry (Hank) Stephen Grady was born March 25, 1948 in Brooklyn, NYC to the late Albert and Pearl (Weekes) Grady.
Hank was the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers Albert Grady, Jr. and Richard Grady.
Hank was a stellar student and his love for learning resulted in his pursuit of higher education. Hank was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and earned his bachelors degree in Business Administration from Baruch College, New York, NY. He furthered his education by attending New York University where he received his master’s degree in Business Administration.
Following graduation, Hank enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in the capacity of Artillery 1st Lieutenant and Captain. His tour of duty consisted of Vietnam, Germany, and stateside. He was honorably discharged after 5 years of service.
Hank was employed with New York Telephone Company from 1973 to 1993 and held several managerial positions in Customer Service, Repair and Installation and Corporate Training. His most recent employment was with Wells Fargo in Charlotte, NC as a Human Resources Advisor. He retired in January 2018 after 13 years of employment.
Hank married Janice, the love of his life in 1986 and of this union was born their beautiful daughter, Danielle. Hank took great pride in his family and was a wonderful husband and father. His personal interests included his love for sports, reading, traveling and spending quality time with his family. He also enjoyed serving in the church as Financial Advisor and Human Resources Consultant at First Baptist Church-West.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include: His beloved wife, Janice Grady, and daughter, Danielle Grady of Charlotte, NC. His sister, Gwendolyn Grady of Brooklyn, NYC; nephew, Christopher Byron of Boston, MA, niece, Meghan Grady of Brooklyn, NYC, and a host of other beloved family members, friends, co-workers, and church family.
