Ms. Geneva Louise Berry of Leesburg, VA. passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the home of her son. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Long & Son Chapel. Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in the Hopewell AME Zion Church Cemetery 11333 Beatties Ford Road. Huntersville, NC 28078.

Geneva Louise Berry was born January 3, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, Huntersville, North Carolina to Caldwell James Berry and Mary Grier Berry (both deceased).
Geneva completed her twelfth year of school at Huntersville High School in May of 1950.
In September of 1950, Geneva entered Barber-Scotia College, Concord, North Carolina. She graduated May 1954 with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics.
Geneva moved to New York in 1955. She worked as a Dietician in the Department of Hospitals for four years.
In the school year beginning 1963, Geneva began her teaching career in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She later began teaching in the District of Columbia Public Schools in 1968 until her retirement at age 62.
Geneva was a member of Hopewell A.M.E. Zion Church of Huntersville NC. She was also a member of the A.M.E. Zion Church Connectional Lay Council.
One of Geneva Berry’s joys in life was the abundance of flowers and plants she tended to in and around her home. She truly did have a green thumb.
Geneva Louise Berry died at 4:19 am June 19, 2021 at the home of her son Wilbert Caldwell Berry in Leesburg, Virginia from complications due to Lewy-Body Dementia and COPD.
She was the sister of Christine Berry Clark (also deceased).
Geneva Berry is survived by her son, Wilbert Berry, her daughter-in-law Judy Berry, granddaughter Erica Berry, great-granddaughter Jade Rylie Berry and great-grandson Nikolas Guzman.
Geneva’s survivors also include Christine’s children Octavia Payne, Bonnie Johnson, Valerie Cain, Reginald Clark, and Anita Robinson along with many grand & great-grand nieces and nephews.
Geneva also had many long-term friends from the Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Charlotte areas.
