Mr.Bruce Johnson 72 of  Mint Hill . passed away September 20, 2016 at Novant Presbyterian Health Medical Center Charlotte ,NC  Funeral service will be held Friday September 23, 2016 at Mowing Glade AME Zion Church 8951 Albemarle Rd. Charlotte, NC 28215. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.He was born to the late Milas and Hathen Wallace Johnson on October 1, 1943 in Mecklenburg County. Four brothers preceded him in death, Willie James Johnson, Curlee Moore, Ralph Johnson, Sr., and Larry E. Johnson.

Bruce received his formal education at J. H. Gunn High School. After high school, the majority of his work career was with McEwen Hardware.  Once McEwen closed, he became an entrepreneur and established Johnson Appliances.

At an early age, Bruce joined Mowing Glade A.M.E. Zion Church where he served faithfully on several boards and organizations. He served in the following capacities: Chairman of the Trustee Board, Chairman of the Junior Trustees and Stewards, President of the Booster Club, Member of the Budget Committee and Building Fund Committee, a Class Leader and member of the Usher Board.   At the time of his death, Bro. Johnson was a member of the Lay Council and the Chairperson of the Mother’s Day Committee  2014 – 2016 who did an awesome job for the women of the church.

A servant who “Stood On That Rock, That Rock That Never Gives Away” leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Angela Denise Doster, brother, Hugh Scott Johnson (Fran), sister, Hathen Diane Johnson Wright (James), aunt, Dorothy Johnson, sister-in-laws, Cora Moore and Frances D. Johnson, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
