Mrs. Betty JoAnn Belk Simpson,77 of Charlotte, NC. passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at her residence.Funeral service will be held Monday, December 2,2019 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 3400 Beatties Ford Rd. Charlotte,NC 28216.Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 1504 Sugar Creek Rd. West Charlotte, NC 28262.

Mrs. Betty Simpson was born September 10, 1942 departed November 22, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Clara Belk and the late Leroy Gibbs.

Betty was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. She worked at Belk Cafeteria for 6 years. She was a seamstress and manager of Mr. High Style and The Great American Fashion Company for 43 years. After retirement she resumed her work for 5 more years with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Child Nutrition at Garinger High School. Betty Simpson was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter, Prince Hall of the Free Masonry.

Betty loved to sew, she also enjoyed gardening her roses and loved to travel. Betty loved the Usher Board of FMBC. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grands.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, friend, sister and Auntie. She was married to the late James Simpson for 54 years.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters and one special daughter, Cecelia (Clinton)Threatt of Stallings, NC, Deborah (Matthew) Hamilton of Jackson, TN, Angela (Dale) Mayes of Indian Trail, NC, Qunnice (Orum) Lide of Charlotte, NC, Michella (Lee) Hairston of Rural Hall, NC, Movita Simpson of Charlotte, NC, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two sisters, Veronica Gibbs and Helen Eggleston of Charlotte, NC, 1 brother Michael Belk and a host of loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
