Mr. Benjamin Coxton, 78 of Charlotte, NC passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Novant Health Main. Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Long & Son Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the Service will follow at 11:00 am.

Mr. Benjamin Coxton, age 78 was born on February 12, 1945, in Gaston County, North Carolina to the late Edward Coxton and Sally Faye (Reid) Coxton. He departed this life on June 8, 2023, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.
Benjamin attended Gaston County Schools. On May 8, 1964, in York, SC he married is childhood sweetheart Elizabeth Doris A. (McCorkle) Coxton, and to this union five children were born.
Benjamin was a dedicated husband, father, and worker his entire life working various positions until he found his passion in leadership as a foreman forklift operator for Sodeco Inc, Mt. Holly, NC and Queens Texaco, Charlotte, NC as a foreman and manager before retirement.
Benjamin never met a stranger and was loved and well-known by everyone he met as “Benny”. His favorite past times or hobbies were fishing, playing checkers, chess, and card games. He also enjoyed different genres of music. He had a personality that brought joy and laughter along with a distinguished style of dress that whenever you would see him, Benjamin was always dressed to impress.
Benjamin was a man of faith and demonstrated his faith consistently for many years throughout his life.
Benjamin will truly be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Doris A. Coxton; sisters, Carrie Coxton, Lucille (Blandine) Gibson, Edith Clark, Margaret Nance, and his brother John Coxton. Continuing his legacy and cherishing his memory are his children: one son, Michael R. Coxton; four daughters, Sara Coxton Gaddy, Connie L. Coxton, Crystal M. Coxton, Bridget B. Coxton (all of Charlotte, NC); 17 grandchildren, Joel Gaddy, Courtney Coxton, Michael Coxton, Brandon Coxton, Jeremy Alexander, Marcus Gaddy, Daequan Coxton, Bryan Rice, Jasmine Kessler, Bray Duncan, Jamal Coxton, Elijah Leake-Coxton, Dorian Coxton, Amir Coxton, Ava Nelson; 12 great-grandchildren, one sister in law, Debra Neal; two brother in laws, James McCorkle, Bobbie McCorkle (all of Charlotte, NC), and a host of nieces, nephews and an innumerable number of relatives and dear friends.
